Tippy Toes Tempo
Kindergarten students doing Tippy Toes
Today for our warm-up we followed a song called Tippy Toes. The song started out slow and gradually increased the tempo as the song went on. The students had a lot of fun trying to keep up and were begging to do it again!
Gymnastics
The past two weeks have been crazy with being so cold and the massive amounts of snow we've gotten. I put together a gallery of pictures that were taken during our gymnastics unit and hope you enjoy. The students had a great time learning how to balance without wiggles, tucking their chin on forward rolls, balancing their knees on their table for a tripod, using their hand, hand, foot, foot for cartwheels and trying to kick their feet and legs out as high as they can for a mule kick! (Sorry about the blurry ones, they were moving fast)

Partner Balance
On Wednesday students were using their awesome balancing skills while working with a partner. They were shown a card with a number on it between 1 and 6. With their partner they needed to balance on that number of body parts and needed to work with each other and be creative! Here are some snapshots of students in action!

Balancing
Yesterday we talked about balance and how we need to use our core to keep our bodies frozen like a statue when balancing. We tried using different body parts and also varied the number of body parts we balanced on!

Fitness Testing
Last week completed our Fitness Testing with 1st and 2nd grades. The students did a fantastic job of beating their previous scores from the Fall! We focus on doing our best and try to beat our own scores from the previous fitness testing. We do fitness testing in the fall, winter and spring.
The 4 Fitness Tests:
Arm Hang
Sit and Reach
PACER
Sit-Ups
Our Kindergarten friends don't participate in the fitness testing so last week we played a variety of games to increase our cardiovascular fitness. Below are some pictures of Welcome to the Jungle! There were 6 stations that students would spend 1 minute at and then rotate. Their goal was to have their heart thanking them by beating fast by the end of class time!

Kindergarten Kiddos
In Kindergarten we do not do fitness testing so we have been playing some fun games that involve our cardiovascular health. So far we have played Cats in the Corner, Fire and Ice, and today we played Bean Bag Toe Tag (one of my favorites!)
Below is a video of Bean Bag Toe Tag
Glad to be back!
It's great to be back in the swing of things and hoping after this last cold stretch we can start getting into the warmer days!
Last week and this week we have been practicing our soccer skills. The students have done a great job of dribbling with their feet, and trapping the ball with their toes. We are also working on our kicking skills. We are focusing on using the inside of our foot to dribble the ball and trapping with out toes. When we kick the three cues we are focusing on are:
1. Step
2. Swing
3. Kick
