Fitness Testing

This week our 1st and 2nd graders have started our 3rd and final round of Fitness Testing for the 2013-2014 school year! The students main goal is to try and beat their previous scores from Fall and Winter.

Monday-Sit Ups
Tuesday- Sit and Reach
Wednesday- Arm- Hang
Thursday- PACER

Fitness tests are designed to see where our students fitness levels are compared to other kiddos in the the Nation. Students are assessed in these areas of health-related fitness: cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.

Volleying/Striking

Last week in P.E we worked on our Volleying and Striking with our hand, a paddle or noodle. We thought about what our body would say when we volley and strike and how we can move to the ball!

The students had a great time trying to keep their ballon or ball from touching the ground while we were volleying. Here are a few pictures from the fun we had :)

Juggling Fun

Last week we finished our juggling unit. The cues we used were flick and snatch to remind ourselves to flick our hand up and snatch our scarf out of the air.
Below are some videos of the students showcasing their skills!

Look at that concentration!

Cup Stacking

We're back from Spring Break and ready to rock!

This week we are learning how to cup stack :) Cup stacking is a great activity for people of all ages and abilities. Cup stacking helps work on bilateral coordination, right and left brain activation and hand-eye coordination.
Here are some pictures of students working on the 3 stack and the 3-3-3 stack.

Cup stacking is also a great activity to do at home!

~Stay tuned for videos showing the need for speed in cup stacking~
